RE: Mideast: End the cycle of retaliation
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/06/30/opinion/edbishara.php

Dear Sir

I very much appreciated Marwan Bishara's measured essay mentioning Israel's state terrorism. Although I differ on one rather major point- I do not think racist Israel the home wrecking war machine should be secure: Modern man made Israel is political Zionism, a totally racist ideology that grants privileges and respect to a select few , while dismissing and impoverishing many. It's a totally toxic anti-social ideology that has lead to more and more monstrous crimes against humanity.

Israel is a failed experiment and I think it is very reasonable- and compassionate, to insist that Palestine for all its people should be fully free from the river to the sea. A real democracy- as in full and equal rights for all regardless of race or religion.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab

RE: Group can't speak on behalf of all

Dear Editor,

The letter writer objecting to Toronto's United Church's choice to boycott Israeli goods is wrong when he claims that a group can not speak for all. Every organization does that every day. So do governments. For instance governments and charities funding and arming political Zionism are sending a clear message that they believe that investing in Israel as "The Jewish State " is a good idea. Thankfully wiser folks have noticed the very real plight of the persecuted and impoverished Palestinians and are protesting by calling for boycotts and divestments from political Zionism.

With churches one can always find another church more sympathetic to one's own personal beliefs right or wrong, but with governments, democratic or not, one is forced to fund and support what those in power decide is best for all. Thankfully we can protest- and freely speak the truth as we know it: Divestment is a reasonable and rational approach and a non-violent way to stop racist Israel's many crimes against humanity.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab

Israel Squeezes, and Gaza Strip Adapts to a Vise
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/02/world/middleeast/02gaza.html

Dear Editor,

Political Zionism is prisons within prisons within in prisons for the native non-Jewish Palestinians. Some formal, some not- but all in all this Israeli made mess is nothing short of genocide... and war crimes galore.

Shame on any America who still believes that a two state solution is any kind of solution of all. Borders will not stop Israeli bombs, nor will borders stop this ongoing apartheid and a blatantly racist war on ALL of Palestine.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab

RE: Israel Accused of Plan to Topple Hamas

letters@latimes.com

Dear Editor,

Israel's attacks really have nothing to do with Hamas- or with the captured IDF soldier. And we are fools to promote Zionist propaganda which seeks both to excuse and coverup a huge and horrible crime against humanity:

This Israeli made mess of violence and despair is GENOCIDE !

One of the most powerful armies on earth demonizes, imprisons and attacks innocent and vulnerable Palestinian men, women, and children... and we talk about politics ?

This is a war crime!!! And not a new one either, it is just more of the same getting worse. More and more monstrous.... 58 years and counting and one very evil Israel as the misnamed "Jewish State "continues its blatantly racist quest to impose forced segregation complete with an apartheid wall.

Meanwhile, as Zionist ploys about peace fill our newspapers the Israeli made genocide escalates: There are approximately 7.2 million Palestinian refugees, equivalent to 74% of the entire Palestinian population which is estimated at 9.7 million worldwide- with more being made every day.

Israel's population is 6,352,117 (note: includes about 187,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank, about 20,000 in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, and fewer than 177,000 in East Jerusalem (July 2006 est. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/is.html).

The CIA Fact book states the ethnic makeup of Israel : Jewish 80.1% (Europe/America-born 32.1%, Israel-born 20.8%, Africa-born 14.6%, Asia-born 12.6%), non-Jewish 19.9% (mostly Arab) (1996 est.) ... they really should include every displaced Palestinian refugee.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab

RE: Israelis Increase Pressure On Hamas
Its Hold on Power Said to Be Target
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/30/AR2006063001856.html

Dear Editor,

One of the most powerful miltaries on earth is pummeling an open air prison camp primarily filled with impoverished refugees and we talk about this calmly as if there is a strategy beyond racist Israel's obvious desire to usurp and destroy Palestine in every way it can.

This mess has nothing to do with Hamas and all to do with apartheid and a war machine misnamed "The Jewish State".

If Israel sincerely cared about its citizens and soldiers it would never have been using them as pawns and targets all over the illegally occupied territories. Arab or Jewish is it obvious that human life is not valued by political Zionism. Good PR is valued, and so is finding scapegoats and patsies willing to help fund this perpetual motion machine of injustice.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

When the US Supreme Court refused to accept the shady US military trials of Guantanamo inmates, the world witnessed one of the most brilliantly designed mechanisms of governance at work: a system of checks and balances. The US system, which shares power between three branches of government (executive, legislative and judiciary), grants each branch the authority to check the power of another. Exercising this authority, the Supreme Court ruled that the military tribunals created by President George W. Bush in the "war on terror" must be brought in line with US and international law. In a five-to-three vote, the court warned the Bush administration that it does not have a "blank check" to wage the war on terror and that it "may not run roughshod over the nation's legal system." Nearly all are held without access to legal support during questioning, often compelled to sign confessions in Hebrew, a language they don't understand, while subjected to intimidation and mistreatment as a matter of routine course. A protracted refugee situation, no solution, multiple and new displacement Ending the protracted Palestinian refugee situation will require further strengthening of the current inter-agency (UNRWA-UNHCR, a.o.) protection regime, as well as political will among the powerful western governments and the United Nations to engage Israel on its obligation to faciliate the return of Palestinian refugees. Until this happens, the international community will be called upon to render emergency aid, assistance and protection to ever more Palestinians displaced and rendered homeless as a result of occupation, colonization and armed conflict. Sderot Built on Ashes of Ethnically Cleansed and Defaced Najd
Sderot was settled by Jews in 1951. According to Walid Khalidi in All That Remains, it along with the settlement of Or ha-Ner, founded in 1957, were established on the village lands of Najd, which means "elevated plain" in Arabic.

Najd's Palestinian villagers, approximately 620 in 1945, were expelled on 13 May 1948, before Israel was declared a state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. According to UN Resolution 194 and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 13, Section 2, the villagers of Najd have a right to return home to their personal property and to their native village. 6/27/06-CFL ALERT: TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO DEMAND ISRAELI RESTRAINT AGAINST PALESTINIANS.

*In the last two weeks alone Israel has killed an unprecedented number of Palestinian civilians including pregnant women, children, and entire families. Not once did the U.S. speak out against these crimes. In retaliation for these attacks Palestinian groups have kidnapped an Israeli soldier. Israel is now promising collective punishment for all Palestinians and have entered Gaza under indiscriminate gunfire.
* Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that Israeli lives are more important than “lives in Gaza.” Ask your representatives if they believe that the lives of Palestinians who are being relentlessly killed and maimed are also worth less than Israeli lives.

*Tell your representatives that you value Palestinian lives as much as you value Jewish lives and that you are outraged to hear Israel has cut off electricity and stopped food from entering into Gaza because of the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier. Remind your representatives that collective punishment is illegal and ask them how long this country will continue to be complicit in Israeli crimes.

RE: Mideast Violence: Who Is to Blame? (5 Letters)
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/30/opinion/l30mideast.html
letters@nytimes.com

Dear Editor,

I very much appreciated the excellent letters concerning the Palestinian freedom fighters who have risen up to defend the countless Palestinian families who have been impoverished and insulted by racist Israeli policies ever since Israel as "The Jewish State" came into being.

I quite agree with Davis's assessment that if we were attacked as the Palestinian have been attacked by the Zionist war machine "the citizens of our great nation" too would do all they could to rise up and resist in every way they could.

Fact is Israel as "The Jewish State" has been a dangerous lie all along... In 2005, there were approximately 7.2 million Palestinian refugees, equivalent to 74% of the entire Palestinian population which is estimated at 9.7 million worldwide. http://al-awda.org/facts.html

Tragically Zionist propagandists like the misnamed "Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America" muddy up the picture, ensuring that America remains badly informed as to what our "friend" Israel really is and does.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab

Dear President Bush,

I am utterly horrified by what Israel - racist Israel has been doing to the Palestinians. This is GENOCIDE !! Please, we the American people should have no part of this insane and cruel quest to make and maintain the so-called "Jewish State" on top of Palestine.

"Israel’s policies of controlling, containing and shaping Palestinian demographics for its own benefit and to the utter detriment of Palestinians are longstanding. The damage thus inflicted on the social and emotional fabric of Palestinian lives over the decades has been incalculable." Separating Palestinian families by Rima Merriman 6-29-2006 http://jordantimes.com/thu/opinion/opinion5.htm

Many Israeli solders and citizens are immigrants from abroad, who freely elect to empower Jewish privileges and pride and a system whereby indigenous Palestinians are oppressed, demonized, imprisoned, destroyed- and ignored.

Even Israel's peace/piece camp invests in two state segregation and apartheid.

We simply should not be trying to make peace with institutionalized bigotry, injustice and concrete walls of hate! No one should... political Zionism should be shunned and those who invest in Israel the misnamed Jewish state should be scorned.

I know that there is a huge Zionist peace camp right now calling for two states- but I am convinced that is a huge and dangerous mistake. The problem is not the borders- the problem is that for years racist Israel has acted with impunity ignoring all borders.

Inside and outside of Israel proper Zionist immigrants have been doing all they can to get rid of indigenous Arabs because there is nothing like having a common enemy to create a sense of comradery for the many Zionist immigrants to Israel.

Zionist immigrants, convinced they have a right and a need to hate Arabs play God with machine guns, bull dozers, missiles and bombs.. and innocent and vulnerable Palestinians get killed. It has been happening for years and years and years. Any excuse will do.

Borders won't stop Israeli bombs.

I believe the only way forward towards a just and lasting peace with full and equal rights for all - real democracy in the Middle East- is full divestment- emotional and financial- full divestment from the racist war machine we call Israel.

Racist Israel is not our friend... Racist Israel is no one's friend.

Stop this horrible crime against ALL of humanity- a crime funded by fools in America who have been horribly misinformed, intentionally played by the Zionist war machine- intentionally betrayed by a foreign country that pretends to be our friend.

Free Palestine fully please, for all its people- focus first and foremost on respecting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Palestinian Refugees inalienable right of return.

And free us all from the many perils of political Zionism... divest in every way you can from the war machine misnamed "The Jewish State".

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab
