Is This Ben Gurion or Hell?

Anyone who has traveled through Ben Gurion airport in Israel knows that it is a unique experience. For most Israeli Jews, the experience is comforting, a quick and accommodating entry into a nation created and developed for the Jewish people. For Palestinian-Americans and many activists working in occupied Palestine it is quite a different experience. Most of these travelers are held for hours and questioned repeatedly; some of who are stripped naked and in some cases (especially in the last two years) denied entry.

The Palestine Library will be a place where information on Palestinian history and the Palestinian struggle to regain their homeland is housed and made available for individuals within and outside the community. It is envisioned as a resource for those interested in the narrative and real history of the Palestinian people presented through their own voices via biographies and memoirs, historical and current events analyses, and literature and poetry. Due to the long years of Zionist influence over the cultural institutions of the US, today's public libraries, and unfortunately even some college libraries, have little or no material representing the Palestinian narrative, creating a void of real and accurate information. With the obvious bias of mainstream media and deliberate attempts to ignore or silence our voices, it really becomes crucial to make this important information available for all.

Our governments wisely signed it 60 years ago... Now it is time for the people to empower it: Read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, believe in it, then SIGN IT & take inspiration from the pledge... "I wish to take responsibility for upholding the goals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in my daily life and in my community. I will do my best to speak out to protect the freedom and rights of others in my community. I affirm the following principle: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” I believe Every Human Has Rights." * Read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights now...
